United Way of the Desert improves local lives and provides a safety net for the community by supporting services and programs for people who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it.
United Way of the Desert has been serving the local residents of the Coachella Valley for more than 30 years. Prior to 1972, the Coachella Valley had two separate and independent United Ways, called United Way of Coachella Valley and the United Fund of the Desert Communities. In 1972, the volunteer leaders of the two United Ways formed what we know as the United Way of the Desert. It is governed by a local board of directors representing the community.
